Jay Kuchinsky

 

· Born in Pouce Coupe, B.C. May 25,1959.

· Moved to Edmonton at 9 Years old ­ where he has remained.

· Studied music at Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton from 1978-1980. Learned to "fiddle" on my own and through my travels.

· 1980 - Toured to Newfoundland, P.E.I. , Nova Scotia, Québec with Irish trio "Comely Cog".

· 1982 - Performed with the Caravan Stage Company based in

Armstrong B.C. . The tour was by horse and wagon through interior B.C.(Lilloet, Merit, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Vernon, Douglas Lake Ranch, Nicola Valley...)

· 1983 married Teresa Bowman, 3 children born ­

 Gabriel (1984), Mikayla (1985), Georgia (1994).

· Fiddle player at Old Strathcona Market from1983 to 1995.

· Performed at Expo '86 in Vancouver.

* 1996: 6 month tour of europe w/ family. countries include spain, Ireland, and England.

· Makes a living teaching and playing the fiddle.

· Multi-instrumentalist - fiddle, 5-string banjo, button-accordion,

alto-sax, guitar, mandolin, bass, etc.

· Performs with various groups including : Cowboy Pride, Goldrush Trio,

The Jay-Tones, and occasionally with Les Bucherons.
